Weekly AdTech Funnel (February 26 - March 3, 2024)

Hello, everyone.

Over the weekend, I had some free time and was reading what the AdTech Media press is saying.

Well, the topic of 3p cookies and the market's reactions to their deactivation (via DigiDay, Viuz, dataMesh, Vidazoo #1, Vidazoo #2, AdWeek, and many others) continues to be in the spotlight. Concerns are expressed that Google simply wants to capture even more of the global market share, as the deactivation of 3p cookies will not affect Google's advertising business. It seems that by disabling 3p cookies in Chrome, Google is just getting rid of some competitors. The Vice President of Google gave a detailed interview, sharing the company's opinions on various issues. A brief summary can be found here.

Google bought Reddit's training data for its AI for $60 million. It's interesting; could something like this happen in Russia?

In Europe, Google is being asked for money again. This time, 32 aggrieved publishers have filed a lawsuit demanding several billion dollars.

Another lawsuit against Google in Europe, this time for $2.3 billion from Axel Springer and other media groups

It's not just Google receiving complaints. LiveRamp is also facing issues. Apparently (shockingly), LiveRamp is monitoring users in Europe and selling this data, which may violate the laws of Britain and the EU. The report can be read here.

A funny article about AdOps and their interaction with AI. It states the obvious, but it might be news to someone.

A quite useful guide on AdBlock from Headerbidding.co. Forgotten technologies of ancient civilizations.
